Getting Involved Starts With Club Rush!

Fellow Santa Margarita Students,

The annual Club Rush will be held in the gym tomorrow at both lunches and I am here to tell all of you that this is one of the best ways to find a a club/organization that you are passionate about.  Getting involved with an organization is so important here at Santa Margarita because it gives every student, freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, an opportunity to work with friends, make new friends and collaborate on meaningful projects.

I thought it would be helpful to come up with a  list of the top 5 reasons why all of you should go to the Club Rush tomorrow and get involved with something that strikes your interest!

  1. Opportunities Outside of Curriculum

There are so many enjoyable topics you can’t address in your normal curriculum. Get involved early because many people regret waiting to get involved.

  1. Have Fun

Clubs are enjoyable!!! It is a great way to distract yourself from academic stress and find interests that you didn’t even know you had.

  1. Sharing Caritas Christi

Some clubs can help you learn more about your faith or minister to those in need. These clubs are fantastic ways to promote Caritas Christi to your community.

  1. Meet New people

Joining clubs can make meeting people much easier. This is huge for underclassmen because it gives them a chance to expand their circles and make the SM community seem smaller.

  1. Professional introduction

There are many  professional clubs related to fields such as medical care and business. One club you should check out is the Eagles Edge Mentor Club which focuses on providing real world business skills to students. They put on workshops led by businessmen and businesswomen in the Orange County community. Join them on September 28th when Mrs. Lori Hershorin talks about her law practice and how to impress in a business environment. If you have any questions, email me at garrett.domier@smhsstudents.org

Have a great time tomorrow and I hope everyone finds a club that they can enjoy being a part of for the rest of their time here at Santa Margarita.

Garrett Domier – Class of 2018 – President of Eagles Edge Mentor Club
