What Blue and Gold Means For SMCHS Students

Good Afternoon Eagles,

Tomorrow’s Blue and Gold “Under the Big Top” event is a time when alumni parents, current parents and friends of Santa Margarita come together to support our great Catholic high school.  All of the proceeds go towards important initiatives that benefit Santa Margarita in a number of ways.  One of the most important ways is through tuition’s assistance, making it possible for 20% of the students to attend Santa Margarita.

Thinking about tomorrow’s event has made me reflect on Blue and Gold as something more than dinner and auction items; it has made me reflect on the generous individuals that make up the Santa Margarita community and make it possible for students of various social and economic backgrounds to receive an exceptional education that will provide a firm foundation for their future educations and careers.

Through this post I hope that current students will take some time to reflect on the generous individuals, such as their parents, who make it possible for them to have four years to grow and excel as an Eagle.  Even if you are a student who does not benefit directly from tuition assistance, it is very likely that you all have a close friend who is receiving an education that was made possible through generous donations to tuition’s assistance.

I sincerely hope that you give some thought to what I have shared, you all have many demands on your time but my hope is that you will all take a few minutes to appreciate the opportunities that have been afforded to you on the eve of a Blue and Gold event that will bring those educational opportunities to countless students who may not have been able to receive otherwise.
